Download
Both editions share one extension ID. Pick the one that fits.
Which edition
- Add to Chrome
Store edition
Updates itself and asks for permissions only when needed. Pick this unless you have a reason not to.
- Open the release page
Standalone edition
For newer releases than the store, or to download YouTube video and audio files. Get chrome-local.zip from the GitHub release, unzip it and load it at chrome://extensions. Updates by hand.
Local helper
Optional. Reading, editing, copying and downloading Markdown work without it, and saving to Obsidian can go through a URI. Silent vault writes, daily-note appends and caption generation need the helper.
- The macOS installer is signed, notarized by Apple and bundles Python. Double-click to install.
- Update the helper when you upgrade the extension; reloading the extension alone does not.
- Linux and Windows follow the helper docs in the repository. Windows support still needs real-device validation.
Let an agent install it
Paste this into Codex, Claude Code or another agent with terminal access. It will guide you through the steps that need you.
Install or upgrade Qiaomu Clipper: https://github.com/joeseesun/qiaomu-clipper . Read README.md, docs/INSTALL-FOR-AGENTS.md and native/README.md first, tell me whether the store edition or the standalone edition fits me and what differs, then follow the instructions for my OS and browser. Download the latest stable release's -chrome-local.zip, extract it and guide me to load the extension. Install the matching helper too: on macOS download qiaomu-clipper-helper.pkg and guide me through installation; on other systems follow the repository docs. Back up and preserve existing data before upgrading. Verify the extension/helper connection and help me select my Obsidian vault.
Other browsers
Every release also ships Firefox and Safari builds. They are build-verified only; real-device use needs more testing.
Build from source
Needs Node.js 22 or newer. Clone the repository, run npm ci, then npm run build:local.
